Opps Restart

Had started this blog once and while switching to check the uploading of videos from the gamecamera I lost it.So restart it is.

Any way I now have the videos in my PC rather than in the camera and it looks like we got some good ones.

As I let Murphy out this morning I saw Kitty sitting just in the tall grass watching as Murphy proceeded down the steps.However after I had brought Murphy back in Kitty remained in her little hideout even after I called her and offered her food. Oh well she is really independent and will come when she is ready.

Lets check these videos.Hmm looks pretty good look at this one……..

Of course Murphy has to inspect after I have filled the feeders for the evening visitors and soon after that we see

And this is a first for we have not captured two deer feeding together so far.

Then in the next video we see the turkeys cleaning up all that the deer left.

Clear or not clear

The weather says clear but it ain’t it says low 43 but it’s 37 but I suppose that's close enough for government work as some one once said.

Me I say take what you get and like it as my mother used to say.WHAT DO YOU SAY?

Not much to blog about this morning so I am just rambling on till I get to the part where I put in the little quote for today. Hmm how about right here and we can wind up this little blog for today seeing as how it is Sunday and all. OK lets go with this…….

Now for Saturday

If it looks like a Saturday and it feels like a Saturday then surely it must be Saturday. I can’t help but notice the days seem to be just flying by why it seems that it was Saturday just a very short time ago but no, another week is past and we draw closer to the days of winter.

Well I guess we better not dwell on that lest it comes even sooner. For today it is still late autumn and a fine day.

Kitty was at the door when I looked out this morning and so I went out to feed her and Murphy waited somewhat patiently while Kitty ate. So I shared a bowl of cereal and some toast with her. Murphy likes people food far better than doggie food.

Looking out at the feedingstation I see the ground is bare and the blue barrel is naked as the trees around here. Normally there is a yellow covering on the barrel and the ground from the scattered corn and seeds but the hungry creatures have even erased that. Oh well we will straighten that out once we get this little blog done.

In my effort to do just tat how about I put in our little quote for today………

No it wasn’t the weather that gave me a fright it was that face in the mirror that greeted me as I got up this morning,

Now wouldn’t you be frightened if you saw that in your mirror? However in but a few minutes I was able to transform that image into one more suitable.

Wonderful what a little freshening up can do so then the not so scary me could go about launching another fine day here on goodoldbeanfarm.

There was coffee to be made and Kitty to be fed(she dashed up on the deck as soon as I raised the blinds). And of course Murphy to be let out for her little morning run about.

And now getting into the swing of things I will endeavor to put together a little blog for today and it seems I am well into that so lets have our little quote for today!

Couldn’t think of a title for today's blog and whatchamacallit popped into my mind.That’s what we used to call things when we didn’t know what to call them. So now we got a title and a little start and I'm here to tell you that all is well here on goodoldbeanfarm.

Kitty was waiting and ready for her morning meal as I stepped out to check the day,and the weather was just like the weatherman said it would be.Sort of damp feeling and a bit overcast but a nice day for a ride . So Alicemary and I will go to Cabelas a sporting goods store and get a nice pair of slippers for Alicemary.

Looking out the window last night we saw the whole raccoon family at the feedingstation so there will be some good pictures when we take the camera in tomorrow,but here is some from the last batch.

This deer makes the same approach every night creature of habit one might say!

Look how chubby this guy is,at the first of summer he was just a little guy!

I just love these sunrise scenes.

And here are our Tom Turkeys they have grown considerably over the summer also!

Weather is warming up as we check the temps on a sunny Wednesday morning.And we are off to a good start with a few more videos from thegoodoldbeangamecamera like this …………

just after I filled the feeders Kitty came and sat atop the barrel guarding the feed it seems.

A short time later came a deer for the evening meal.

then before the sun was up the morning cleanup crew comes on the scene

then comes a flock of mourning doves and though it is not shown here a real chubby raccoon had quite a feast after the deer.

And so it goes on a night at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation we will see what tomorrow looks like on our next blog but for now lets have the little quote for today……

NOT just frost on the Pumpkin

Not just frost on the pumpkins But ICE on the puddles.Yup the ol temp hit the freezing mark last night but as I stepped out on the deck it felt rather comfortable although the temp was still 32 degrees.

I brought the game camera in so perhaps we may have some video for you today. Oowee just plugged it in and it is downloading 209 videos ought to be interesting.Yesterday was a laid back day and not much to speak of but it was pleasant. Today a store run and I need to refill the feed barrels they are right near empty.

IT was a blue sky day

But the air was crisp like a fall day and though there was a fire in the stove in the house the celebration was held outside…

I liked this shot of the sky the chimney smoke and the fall leaves and the folks were all gathered in little groups around the yard and fields of Serenity Farm sharing tales of the old days and renewing acquaintances

And in the barn there was a layout of food and a display of pictures covering the years since the farm was founded

And all round the area were signs of the changes that were made over the past 35 years since this property was just a wooded area backed by a swamp.

It was a nice time and I even had a chat with the household dogs on the way home the blue sky was being invaded by some menacing rain clouds and though we didn’t get great pictures they will serve to bring back memories of a fine day with old friends.

And kitty came eagerly to my call this morning and even allowed me to stroke her back and pluck a tick from her shoulder. Here is a little video I made yesterday …………….

Later today Alicemary and I will go to visit a friend from long ago who is having a 35 year celebration of her home ownership that she named Serenity Farm. It looks as though the weather will be nice so we can look to a pleasant time. I will prepare a dish to take and I think it will be macaroni and meat balls.

No rain but puddles remain

It looks to be a fair day as I let Murphy out no sign of Kitty yet but she must be bedded down some where.It was another rough night for her with all the rain and wind but she came for supper last night and will most likely show up later in the day.

We got some good videos from the gamecamera so have a look at these………….

Heavy wind and rain

Although the news says overcast we got a major storm out there the wind is howling and the rain is coming down in buckets(literally) but they did at least include an ALERT.

My goodoldbeangamecamera is laid out on the ground and I ain’t ready to go out and get it yet. I hate taking a shower with my clothes on and I don’t want to go out there naked so we will just wait till the rain lets up a bit.

But rain or no rain we can still have our little quote for today………

Here we are again on another fine fall day. This morning as I made the coffee I glanced out the window and noted there was a large group of birds at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation. There were blue jays and many black birds all a flitter gathering seeds.The gathering of black birds is as you may know a sure sign of Fall.

So I grabbed the camera and sneaked out on the deck thinking I would get some nice pictures BUT WHOOSHA they heard me open the door and away they all flew.I sat a few more minutes waiting to see if they returned but when they didn’t I got a couple shots of the scantly clad trees.

But perhaps we will see the blackbirds when I bring in the goodoldbeangamecamera later today.

Rain is expected for tonight and tomorrow so I will make a store run and a trip to the dump today. So I guess I better get in the little quote for today and get on with the day.

The falling of fall

Today it feels like the falling of fall and it looks like it might have fallen last night.Temps in the 30s the furnace started running and there is a coat of frost on all outdoors.

But hey we knew it had to happen sometime so we will just adjust and go along with the flow as someone once said.

Murphy ran merrily from place to place sniffing out any traces of night time visitors and there was a profusion of blue jays coming and going at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation. The sun shone brightly so soon any trace of the frost will be gone.

Not much in the news today but check this out Maine is being invaded by drug dealers from Massachusetts. Mattie Brown

I thought it was a funny story . This 60 yr old lady said she was here on a weekend trip and the drugs were for her personal use.

Let the Merry Bells ring? What’s that all about you say I think! Blog titles can be confusing at times. But that’s what it’s all about, my blog titles are all about what I think and some times they are cool and some times they make no sense.

But If I explained them every day my blog would be about titles and not thegoodoldbeanfarm so I will just explain it today and from now on you will just have to bear with me and figure them out or just ignore them.

As to thegoodoldbeanfarm all is well here and the birds are singing however I think the bees may be in hibernation for they are scarce round here of late.

As I let Murphy out this morning blue jays were all round the feeders just a pecking away to get as much corn and seeds as they could for they know the cold days are nearing.

Unseen Kitty lurked in the tall grass waiting till Murphy had her morning outing then once I brought Murphy in Kitty came at my first call and was eager to eat the morning offering of dry kitty food.

Hmm I should have got some pictures to put in here too but how about a video from an earlier day……….

When Monday feels like Sunday

When Monday feels like Sunday And the temp is way off in this area I shake my head and try to reorient myself. It was a long day yesterday or so it seems to me.A store trip and a bit of a family gathering to celebrate Chucks birthday then after supper video gaming topped off with late night TV watching. And somewhere in between I even baked a cake and made Pea soup.

The yard was busy with Great grandson Cody and a couple of visiting dogs so Kitty was in hiding and the birds awaited a quieter time.

Some of the action was captured by the game camera

And for some reason the flash failed in the night time pictures but I see a deer and some raccoons came by for a meal.

But maybe it was just fog that blurred out the picture.

Any way it still feels like Sunday and I think I need a nap or some more coffee so lets get on here with the little quote for today….

It is just like Fall today cool temps clear blue sky and windy as I raise the blinds and see the turkeys are here just a gobbling up the remains of the corn. Murphy must wait to go out but she is patient and understands as she lays on the rug till it is her turn.

Hmm I was going to put some videos in here but can’t seem to draw them from youtube some times it is like that so we will just have to wait a bit and perhaps it will work then.

Any way I did get the camera in this morning and found the videos were all Turkeys except a few of Murphy, and me filling the feeders, no night visitors this time.

Finally Friday

Finally Friday a day looked forward to by many who toil in the work a day world But here on goodoldbeanfarm it is just another nice day. Kitty awaits as I raise the blinds and Murphy fussed cause she can’t just run right out and greet the day.

The feedingstation shows signs of the nighttime visitors a dish of potato peels turned over and lots of corn devoured perhaps a good round of pictures next time I bring the camera in.

Umm and the coffee tastes good this morning after a good nights sleep. Here is a couple videos from the last camera setting…………..

There were around sixty videos on this last set and you see here a sampling for there were many turkey ones and only a couple Raccoon ones and just the one on Kitty.Haven’t seen much of the deer lately and the skunks seem to only show up once in a while.

Thanksgiving like Thursday

I know it ain’t even November yet but it kinda feels like Thanksgiving and Kitty even came back for seconds this morning. I had fed her and after a bit I looked out and she was gone and her dish was empty so I let Murphy out.Opps Kitty was at the foot of the stairs and came bounding up expecting seconds and was met face to face with Murphy. However I was able to stop Murphy and get her back in the house.Meanwhile Kitty calmly waited while I got her another can of food. I guess those little cans are not enough for her or she too thought it was like Thanksgiving.

Last night I looked out the window and the raccoons were back all six of them and in the pouring rain were having quite a feast. Should be some good videos when I take the camera in later today.

Here is the three big boys as we call them there was four of them but I think one left the group to hang with the main flock.They will be having Thanksgiving here rather than being Thanksgiving on somebody's table for hunting season is past and they have a safe haven here on goodoldbeanfarm.

Still a bit sleepy as I remember OH MY I forgot to do my blog.Seems I slept in a bit late today and when I looked at the weather I could see why. It is one of them sleep in days, Kinda overcast with a sky promising rain and the wind blowing pine needles from the trees.

Had to call Kitty several times but she finally came out of the deep grass and bounded up the steps for a bit of breakfast. For her it was kitty food and for Alicemary and I it was waffles and coffee. Umm we just love them waffles topped with oleo and Log Cabin syrup.

Here's a few videos of Kitty and Turkeys. Kitty is not fearful of the turkeys and the turkeys seem to keep a respectful distance from her but they seem to coexist quite well.

Seeing as how I am still a bit sleepy and it is one of them days let us move on to the little quote for today…So now hear this….

Not bad for a Tuesday

Starting the day with a step outside to let Murphy relieve herself I find it is clear and cool and not a bad day for a Tuesday.

No sooner than Murphy comes back to the door Kitty emerges from the deep grass at the edge of our yard and heads for the deck for her morning feed.And so starts the day here on goodoldbeanfarm and it is not a bad day for a Tuesday.

Yesterday I sat on the deck and snapped a few pictures of the surrounding area.Here are some that show the tree line and surrounding fields.

Here an orange bush takes center stage displaying it’s fall colors.

This one has bare naked trees in the fore front resulting from our past windy and rainy days.

And here we see the skimpy fall colors and more bare naked trees.

Dark shadows in this one and the naked tree in the fore front seem to shout out Look out Fall is falling!

Yet on the brighter side we have a pair of what I call our last sunflowers of summer.

This is our only tree at lawns edge behind the house and it is usually the first to lose it’s leaves.

On the deck our Morning Glories are still flowering as they hang above some Petunia's that are hanging on till the colder nights puts them to sleep.

And out the driveway to Bean Family Rd we see more of them naughty bare naked trees.

Just another Monday

Yup it is just another Monday but the birds are singing and I am not sure if the bees are buzzing since I took down the humming bird feeders. And when I opened the blinds this morning there was Kitty sitting on the blue barrel waiting for me to feed her. She is getting regular coming morning and evening for me to feed her.

I will take the camera in today to get the results of the past two days and I should get a good shot of Kitty sitting on that blue barrel.

Here's a night time picture you may have already seen guess atop the barrel is a regular place for her.

Poor Murphy had to wait to go pee while the cat ate but she was good about it.

But hey at least it ain’t raining cats and dogs and it’s just another Monday so how about we have a little quote for today like ………….

There’s a nip in the air

But the bright sun says it will warm up and we will have a fine Autumn day.Kitty was quick to come out of the brush when I called her with some leftover fried fish.

The goodoldbeanfeedingstation shows signs of the night time visitors so perhaps there will be some good pictures on the game camera but I will let it sit for another night or two before I check it out.

The turkeys are getting quite large and they eat real good here on goodoldbeanfarm the ones in these videos were just little chicks in April just look at them now…….

Did you notice the changing leaves in this second video? They are rapidly changing and many of the trees are looking bare as the weather changes here.

Varying temps. between here and the coast looks like a muggy day to me.Last night the wind was just a howling and it feels more like Halloween every day.At bed time last night Kitty was sitting at the feedingstation looking for food.So I went out and put her dish down on the deck and she ran eagerly to it. As I stepped to the door to go back inside Kitty approached and I felt she was saying Take me in,But I can’t do that Murphy would flip right out if Kitty were to move in.

I felt a sense of sadness as I turned out the light on her but I see this morning that she finished her food and must have then gone off to wherever she goes for shelter.

The wind must have blown the camera over for it was on the ground this morning but I have some pictures from the last couple days for you. This is called “oow what's that smell”

The birds are singing and kitty is eating on the deck.She ( I call it she ) for I have not been able to determine it’s gender. Being a feral cat it is skittish when approached but she comes right to me when I call her to eat. I wonder where she spent the night in the rain and what will she do when the cold and snow come.

Oh well for now I will just feed her and see what comes next.One day at a time as some one once said.

Here is our little raccoon friends but they aren’t staying LITTLE with all the seeds and corn they been eating.

On a foggy morn

A light rain falls and a misty fog surrounds the field as I step out to feel the day and it is good.The rain will soften the leaves and help them change to their autumn colors and soon those colors will light up the trees that surround us here on goodoldbeanfarm.

No major plans for today so it will be a laid back day, The goodoldbeangamecamera gave up a few good videos yesterday and it is now out there in the rain waiting to capture more images of our visitors today and tonight.

Here are some from the last couple days………this one I call “fixing and a filling” as it captured me setting things up for the next visitors.

And this one I named “Just walk on by” the deer is approaching the feeders in it’s usual round about route.

Where did the weekend go it seems a blur as I look back at it. A couple days helping Joe cleaning up the remainders of the torn down barn and cutting grass. And then a surprise visit from the Monticalvo family.And a happy visit it was for it has been several years since we were together with them.

Earlier yesterday I brought the camera in from the goodoldbeanfeedingstation and here is a couple videos from that.

I know they look like ones from before but that is just because the animals have the same actions every night.I guess that is called a feeding pattern ( I just made that up).

I am not too much into writing this morning still rather sleepy so how about we have the little quote for today………

Our first cold day and already I am saying let the sun shine,I know 58 ain’t freezing but it is quite a switch from 80.

This morning Kitty was waiting by the feeders for a bird or some food whichever came first. So I went out and put some food down for her on the deck and she came a running for it. Although she comes readily for the food she is still quite skittish and ready to run if you try to get too near her. I don’t know where she finds shelter or what she will do when snow comes.

Oh well time will tell as some one once said. I brought the camera in this morning and will edit the pictures later got a few nice deer videos and as usual many turkeys,here is one now just fresh from Youtube…….

Funny but the videos from two different nights and days are just about alike. It seems the same deer comes the same way and feeds the same way both nights.And of course the turkeys on the two days look just about the same.

Another nice sunny day after the rain but it is Autumn without a doubt.

It seems the Humming Birds have left us they have not been seen round here for over a week And when I stepped out this morning I saw all of the feeders for them were just covered with bees.This was quite strange for there are usually a few bees round them this was a mass invasion so I grabbed the camera and made a video which is uploading as I write this.

Kitty was waiting below the stairs for some food but was chased into the tall grass by Murphy who did come back after I hollered at her several times ( she has a mind of her own) and though I try to stop her dogs just chase cats it seems.

A few minutes later she was just sitting and watching as a flock of turkeys wandered out from behind the house to graze on the front lawn..Go figure! as they say.

A pause while I check my Email for the video has 21 min to go before I can download it.

Ahh here it is I have been playing on my Farmville game oh and please excuse the poor aiming of the camera bright sun clouded the view screen .

A wee bit damp

It is just a wee bit damp as I greet the day here on goodoldbeanfarm but that didn’t stop the Turkeys from getting their breakfast. Our group of 25 was at the feeders when I raised the blinds and as they left the 4Toms appeared to eat and entertain me as I had my coffee.

Looks like a good start for my day I have a store trip in mind and will also have to restock the feed barrels. Not even the first of the month and the feed is so low I have to almost climb into the barrel to fill the feeders. The creatures are sure eating good this month.

Here’s a cute video showing a skunk and a deer eating the deer is just out of range but you see it’s eyes as it feeds from the dish on the right.

And ain’t them turkeys gettin fat they should have no problem gettin through the winter. Ok that is enough for now so let’s have the little quote for the day. How about this……

Always nice to have a visit from family and pets. I left the camera out for another day so no new pictures from that but I still have a ton from earlier day to show like………

or this that shows a turkey fanning the camera. This morning as Alicemary and I were having our coffee we watched 25 turkeys feeding and fighting well not fighting but you know how they chase each other round when they are feeding.

The turkeys seem to dominate the daytime pictures but I may try to elevate the camera for a day to monitor the smaller birds at the feeders.That might be nice don’t ya think?

So we gotta keep putting them seeds and corn out there to keep all our little creatures happy and healthy so they can keep us happy watching them, RIGHT?

Something knocked my camera down again last night as I discovered this morning. The last film on it was these ghostly images, but it was able to also capture this earlier one of a happy lil skunk……………

Guess I will have to be more firm in placing the camera so it wont get knocked over. And I better be more firm with Murphy cause she keeps trying to feed on turkey poop as we can see in this video

It seems we will get a lot of interesting scenes from this camera and I am quite pleased that I got it.Here's another cool one ………..

What a busy camera

When I looked out this morning it seemed a pleasant day BUT opps the camera was laying on the ground. Something knocked it over it seems but not before it had taken 634 pictures!

They are just uploading now also one of my first morning sights was Kitty our feral cat was at the feeders again.That’s a no no so I got a dish of cat food for her and although I called her and put the food down for her she would not respond for her mind was set on a bird breakfast. Had to chase her away from the feeders. Aha the pictures are ready and look at who is in the first ones

Yep that’s kitty and from the date stamp I see she was out there first thing this morning.This camera is working out quite well it seems.Set on video I get around 100 per 24 hrs. and it looks like 300 pictures.The goodoldbeanfeedingststion is one busy place!

I like the videos best but the pictures are good too cause I need not up and down load to post them on my blog.

See the difference in the two above although only one minute apart the sun must have come out to brighten the second one.

And the rains came

As predicted by the weather man the rain arrived last night and continued into the early morning. Our poor little creatures must have had quite a night earlier

when I was having my coffee the turkey flock arrived for breakfast and they were quite dishelved after the night of rain. And before that as I raised the blinds I saw the white dog up on the rock again looking for more of that suet I put out there. I wonder where he comes from. I try to call him but he runs off as soon as he sees me.

Today I am going to try out some software for editing videos. I hope to be able to stitch together some of the ones I have to make them longer.

Oh ya as the turkeys were eating I saw them jump and spread out having been spooked by something. I looked round the window and there stood our wandering white cat turkeys all round him and after a long moment the turkeys slowly wandered off. It would have been a good scene for the video cam but it was pointed away from them.

Up and about at 7:30 and a look outside shows a fine day the feeders are still standing and it appears there were few diners eating the course 14 feed that I put out. all our creatures prefer the sunflower seeds it seems.

Still we will I am sure see some action when I bring in the camera next time.Today Murphy goes back to the vet she has a cyst on her tail that we have been treating and today we shall find out if further treatment is needed.

A cool day

A cool day as I step out on the deck. And I am up early Murphy awoke me at 7 AM and after lazing about for 15 minutes or so I hopped out of bed and started my day.

Looking out the window I spy our feral cat we call kitty sitting below the feeders and go to the cupboard for some cat food. But when I went out to feed her she was scared away by my opening the door.

I thought she was gone so I let Murphy out and darned if the cat didn’t choose that moment to come out of the grass.Murphy spotted her and with a woof commenced the old dog chase cat routine. Guess dinner can wait for her until she comes again.

Last night I reviewed more of the videos and found they are mostly dominated by raccoons turkeys,skunks and deer in that order.Here is a good one of raccoons……….

A night time blog?

Yes I am afraid so because my day seems to go by so fast that if I don’t do this when I first get up it is night time before I know it.

I know you say what has he to do that keeps him so busy well I don’t really know but it must be something.Some times I sleep late and some times I get all snagged up with these games on face book or maybe just looking at all the video I get from my”goodoldbeanfeedingstationcamera”.

BUT anyway I am still around and I thought I should dispel any worries that folks out there might have when I don’t blog for a couple days.

I checked the camera tonight and the result for two days was 250 videos and those have to be checked before I can start the possess of up and down loading them to show you. I got one loading on youtube right now should be ready in a few minutes so I can show you that.

And the weather is fine with the temp the same as my new age that occurred on the 3rd which was my birthday.

Im sure that everyone knows Alicemary has found her long lost Indian relative and is now a registered member of her tribe here is the logo of that tribe which I can’t even pronounce yet.And that is only one of the changes round here.

I have ordered a new monitor for my PC setup it will be a 25 inch wide screen.and I used a website named Craigslist to sell my two 19 inch ones.

Got great results from that two buyers in less than an hour of posting.

Solving the NO RACCOON PICTURES MYSTERY

Looks like we get a break from the heat today as the hurricane approaches offshore. That will feel nice after 5 days of +90 degree weather and heavy humidity.

AND I think I have solved the no pictures of raccoons mystery.Last night I set up the feeders and placed the camera three or four feet from the blue barrel where they dine.the following pictures show by the time stamp that from 8 to 1 AM there was no activity however it also shows that some thing devoured most of the feed yet NO pictures!

We even watched the raccoons eating at that time from the kitchen window.Finally around 1AM the camera is set off by a deer and we see the mother raccoon atop the barrel eating.

A balmy 83 degrees here on a sunny Tuesday.And now that you know the weather I suppose you are wondering about the goodoldbeananimalcamera, well I let it set another day now in a new spot. Somehow it didn’t capture the raccoons the other night and I think it scared away a deer cause it was too close when it flashed. However here are some shots fron the other day.

Starting off with an edited picture from the wondrous woods of Sweden where our friend Olof takes his daily walks with his dogs.

I brought in the camera today and reviewed the pictures. There were 111 of them but most of them were turkeys and there were a few of me filling the feeders.BUT I said where the heck is the raccoons?They come every nite yet I get no pictures of them. Oh well perhaps tonight or tomorrow or the next day because I will keep trying.

Speaking of photos I have left the goodoldbeancamera sit for another day. It can take and store over a thousand pictures so perhaps I will check it once a week.

Today seemed a fine day for a bit of cleaning so I been vacuuming and stuff round the goodoldbeanhouse.We sure accumulate a lot of dust and dog hairs. Murphy grows and sheds more hair than grass on the lawn. Perhaps a trip to the store later but first I take a few minutes to do a blog.

Hpf ha what’s that ringing in my ears? It’s the phone says Alicemary as I jump out of bed still half asleep to dash to the phone in the other room only to fin it is a wrong number. The number was right but the caller was wrong. Ah never mind I still am not fully awake. But I have since then made the coffee and retrieved the

I decided to not check the game camera today so there is no new pictures. Observing the feed levels it seems there were few visitors last night . I did however observe a skunk gathering some pizza crusts we put out last night and I believe he activated the camera but it is not worth taking the camera down for just a skunk so it can set another 24 hours and see what happens then.

Looking over my picture files It is something to see all the bird pictures and animal pictures I have captured since we have had thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation. Look at some of these……..

There are just tons more scattered through out my picture folders I really need to get them organized but that is a job for another day as I usually say.

I ordered a tripod to mount the game camera on from Tiger Direct and that will make it easier to set it up in various spots where I can get better shots. Hmm this is getting to be quite the project.

Yesterday I spent some time cleaning and refilling the humming bird feeders they drink up an unbelievable amount of that nectar aided of course by the bees. And I have been filling the seeds and corn twice a day for the morning and night birds and creatures. Yes and one sometimes two trips a month to the feed store for more feed it is quite a task. But hey what else is a goodoldbean gonna do? It’s my hobby!

Not a bad day at all a wee bit damp and overcast but it will do just fine. I suppose you might call it an early Autumn kinda day.

No news on the game camera this morning as I am still making adjustments and repositioning it to try to capture the Raccoons.

Also not much news in the paper today so it seems we will just have to struggle by with what we have for news RIGHT!

Yesterday Bob and Debby popped in for a quick visit and Joe came down to join in.Everyone had a bunch of kisses and tail wagging from Jedabel (that's Joe’s new dog). And we all received some pumpkins squash and gourds from Deb’s garden. Summer is moving right along when we get the garden stuff next we gotta have a cook out before it is all over.

Here’s what I got from the new camera! Looking at the time stamp on the pictures( click on them to see this) it seems that it stopped taking pictures at 5:49 and started again at 21:43 when I picked it up this morning.

It just don’t work right! Look here I will show you……………….

As I checked it in the house……..

After it was set up last night and I went to fill the feeders One last look at it before I went inside………….

And then as I picked the camera up this morning.

All nice pictures BUT also all I got when in between the last two there was action aplenty at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation that was not captured!! Last night between 9 and 10 pm there was a big skunk then six rambling and rowdily Raccoons' that we watched out the window and who knows what else after we retired and yet there were NO more pictures than what you see here. NOT NICE!!!

Seems the motion sensor failed to work or something for we got before and after pictures but no in between.

Maybe another one will work better we will see……………….!!

Any way Murphy got off early today for her bath and nail clip and I will pick her up when they call saying she is done. Alicemary has one of her famous allnighter spaghetti sauces cooking and we here on goodoldbeanfarm look forward to a fine day and whatever adventures fate has in store for us.

Another nice day begins with a disappointment……..The night camera failed to give me any nighttime pictures! It did however capture me setting it up

and checking it out but I must of done something wrong as I re checked the settings for the third time trying to make sure it was right. I think there is a quote that goes “third time never fails”…..WRONG!!!

But hey I did get a squirrel tail the other night

Trial and error

Well I tried and looks like I erred. It took several tries to figure out how to program and set up the game camera that I bought at Cabela’s yesterday and after studying the resulting photos I obtained it seems that placement and programming errors were the cause of the poor results.

Remember in viewing these to click on them to see the detail better.

Warming up again

We had a nice break from the heat and humidity yesterday however it has started to warm up again today.

The other day I got a cool opportunity for a picture and ran to the other room for the camera. Our turkey flock was grazing the area round the goodoldbeanfeedingstation as one big mother stood watch upon our yard rock.

The result was this picture which I think is real good.

It now adorns my desktop and I have entered it in a photo contest in the local newspaper.

Now ain’t that nice? Later today I am going to Labella's, a sporting goods store to buy a Game camera

perhaps this one . With this I will be able to get photos of all visitors to thegoodoldbeanfeedingststion night and day.These cameras can link to a satellite allowing you to download pictures and video to your PC . Gotta love all this new technology.

Again last night the night creatures came and went without our seeing them probably while we were engrossed in a movie but they left their mark empty feeders and here and there a poop or two. With this new camera we will be able to see them with out watching and waiting at the window.

Called up the pet groomer and Murphy will have a bath and manicure this Friday.Hmm feeding birds and having pets is just like raising kids they keep ya busy all the time.

A soft and gentle rain pitter patters gently just outside the kitchen windows here on goodoldbeanfarm as three Tom Turkeys gobble up some seeds and corn. Most of the seeds are on the ground left by our night visitors.

We went to bed at midnight and they had not come by then But since most of the feed we put out was gone this morning it is evident that our night time visitors were well fed.

The rain continues as I try to put together a blog for today and I expect we will still have a pleasant and pleasing day for the rain is expected to be light and scattered showers. I can live with that after all the hot and humid days it is a relief.

Isn’t that nice another sunny day. As I step into the kitchen and glance out the window a pair of Mourning Doves perched atop the goodoldbeanfeedingstation contemplate the pickings or perhaps they are awaiting their mates before they drop down to the feeders.

Our little raccoon family was here again last and cleaned up all the seeds I put out for them.

An early morning phone call got Alicemary up and at em discussing Indian ancestors she has been diligently researching to find her Indian background. And the call she got was from a guy near or in Canada.

My oh my such goings on here on goodoldbeanfarm. Any way we are ready for this nice day and will enjoy it to the fullest as we go forth into the pleasure of summer.

Another day for the books

Slept in a bit late this morning. I must say that was pleasant and pleasing.

Last night I tried to set up a video cam to catch the raccoons in their antics at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation but with an elderly laptop and all the updates and downloads and a weak web camera the thing would only take pictures and they were no good at all.

Finally tiring of this wasted effort I resorted to my little Nikon and managed to get a little video for you. Check this out……………

Now ain’t they some cute. to bad it didn’t come out clearer and it was poorly aimed for I tried not to spook them but I did anyway. At the end you can see the mother back off and leave and the young ones all took her alert and followed. And if you look closely you can see the father atop the green barrell in the background.

Anyway now you have had a peek at the raccoons so now here is the little quote for today…….

Cool with a soft breeze here and

The same at the shore looks like a great day as we slide into a cool spell Oh it will get back to the 80s I am sure but for now it is just the way I like it.

What a show last night at the goodoldbeanfeedingstation There were five raccoons all here eating at once. And they about cleaned out all the corn and seeds at ground level as well as a couple feeders they were able to reach by climbing onto the feed barrels.The young ones that were born this year are getting quite large now and are just so cute as they climb up the poles and raid the feeders.I sure would like to get a video of them but I have yet to find a way to do so.

The plan for today is a trip to the dump and to the store for some groceries and who knows what else we kinda take our days that way here on goodoldbeanfarm you know, do what you have to do then do what you wanna do.

Gold discovered on goodoldbeanfarm

Well it wasn’t JUST discovered it grows back every year and will until we finally mow it down and keep it mowed so it won’t come back.And although it makes a pretty picture to see the field all golden it is quite a pain in the nose. Yep nose it don’t bother the other end but it does keep you just a-coughing and a-sneezing.

Last night the raccoon came back and ate with a vengeance completely clearing the corn and seed dish.It’s no wonder she is such a chubby critter. Ok no problem the barrels are full and we will restock them feeders for her and all the other visitors to thegoodoldbeanfeeders soon as I get this blog on the web.

Well another day and another Monday here on goodoldbeanfarm I am writing this while the video above is uploading to YouTube.It takes 13 minutes to upload it.

Last night the little visitors were here I say that because the corn was only partially eaten and the only one I saw was the skunk probably the raccoons are still digesting the feed they had the night before.

This morning as I looked out the window the three male turkeys were pecking away at the left over corn and then having their fill wandered out the driveway. Usually there are four of them together but perhaps the other one was sleeping in.

Sunny Sunday

Last night as I was turning on the lights for the feedingstation I caught sight of a deer jumping away guess I should have turned them on a bit earlier then I could have seen the deer eating.

Later on the mother raccoon was here and scoffed up a bunch of seeds and corn and the mother skunk came for a visit too.Yep it has been pretty busy out there and we have had many fine hours of bird and creature watching.

Yesterday I had to refill most of the humming bird feeders they drink that stuff right up especially when it is hot.

And this morning it paid off as I watched two hummies at one feeder as they put on a show while they sipped away on the sweet juice. They would drink then fly backwards to hover then come forward to drink again as they were on opposite sides of the feeder it was like a mirror image as they imitated each others moves. Too bad I didn’t film it it would have made a nice video.

So OK let’s have a little quote for today how about this…….

Gonna be another hot one

Why it has been so hot I haven’t done anything to write about so I am stuck with the weather. Don’t get me wrong I love summer and always look forward to it especially in winter which I don’t hate but find it uncomfortable when the snow and ice keep a coming.

We are having quite a summer though and I guess I can’t complain so I just write about it.

Last night was a quiet one at thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation and each time we checked there was no visitors but the empty look of the feeders this morning suggest it was still a busy night we just didn’t see them.

I still have seeds and corn in my Jeep it has been too hot to go out there and fill the barrels can’t seem to get far from the air conditioner.

Cooler at the shore

Danville is only a few miles from goodoldbeanfarm and Portland is a 30 min drive so we can most times find relief from the heat but us goodoldbeans find the best relief right here in the house with the AC just a humming.

Last night we had two things to be on the lookout for. The night feeders and the Northern Lights which the weather man said would be visible round here.

Well we did see some of the critters that come here after dark. A fat raccoon and a baby skunk were seen eating right next to each other and both seemed totally unaware of the other. Seems they get along just fine with each other.

But although I went outside and checked several times the Northern Lights were not to be seen.

You know it has been a very hot summer here and the humidity has been soaring. Why yesterday when I went to bush wack that tall grass not only would the weed eater not start but it was just sooo muggy I was soaked with sweat after just a few minutes and decided this was a job that could wait for a cooler day.

OK thats it about the weather and about yesterday and since today ain’t really started yet lets just have a little quote for today shall we…….

Kinda cool out this

way todayBut it is 6 degrees warmer on the coast I say we got a good day coming! Them turkeys have been coming every day for food and at night the raccoons and skunks are getting their share so it looks like a trip to the feed store is on the schedule for today. Plus we need a few things for the cupboard so I will do that this morning and then do some bush whacking this afternoon.

We got the lawns cut the other day and so I need to tackle the area that os too rough for the mower.The grass and weeds are near three feet tall. All this nice weather has caused a growing spurt that is hard to keep ahead of.

Having a cuppa cocoa as we ran out of coffee so that needs to be on my store list.Can’t go too long without coffee.

Here we are again

Well a little late but ready to post another goodoldbeanblog. The temp is the same here as it is at the shore In Portland and a fine day lies ahead.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Joes cutting up kindling wood and clearing debris from the old barn area.And when that was done we came down to the trailer and I mowed our lawns that sure needed it. The mulch that was created will further the lawn and thicken it up.

All in all a good day was had and a good bit accomplished. Oh ya I promised Humming Bird pictures well here they are………….

They have to come in from both sides to chase away the bees in order to get their drink.

I think the bees drink more of the juice than the hummies do they are constantly at the feeders.

Watching the show at the feeders also gets a nice cloud show as the big and small puffy clouds drift across the sky.

Ya gotta love sitting on the deck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Bad..I missed a day

Yep no blog yesterday but for good reason Joe came to visit with his dog Jennabell.

That's her laying by my chair she is a great dog as I was to see since I spent the rest of the day with her and Joe. There was much to do up at the main house since the barn was torn down.

Lots of clutter in front of the garage and lots of field and lawns to be mowed.So while Joe tackled the clutter he let me use his John Deer mower and

here we see me just a mowing and a mowing well you can’t see me cause I took the picture but you get the idea.

Sure looked good when I finally climbed off that mower and Joe had cleared most all the clutter in front of the garage. Ill say it sure felt good to be working with one of my boys again improving goodoldbeanfarm.

So that's why I didn’t blog but I had this video to show you that you may have seen on my facebook page which is linked to youtube and myspace but for those who missed it here it is.

The day starts off a bit cooler and looks like it will be a very pleasant day. No big activities scheduled for us today so it should be a pleasant and pleasing day here on goodoldbeanfarm.

Outside the grass is getting taller and I don’t know when it will get cut my lawnmower is just about dead and Joe who has the ride on is right out straight as they say. Well I guess if God wanted us to have nice short grass he would have seen to it.

I can see clearly Now

It’s done the new lights are in and last night we could see clearly when the white cat came to visit.

This is what we had for lights before and with one burned out bulb night vision was poor to say the least.

But it was Rottari Electric to the rescue when our friend and favorite electrician Bob came to install our new flood lights. Although it was quite hot he was up to the job and up the ladder to install the first light. Here he removed the existing light and simply installed the new one in its place thus using the existing wiring and switch. Soon he was up on the deck installing the front light.

Soon the job was complete and our new lights were all installed and ready for the coming dark.

This is the front one which he installed high above the door to draw the night bugs away from the door it was a real pain to have a face full of moths and bugs every time you opened the door at night.

And this is the back one that will light the area all round thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation.

Got to bed earlier last night as I had finished my Steven King book couldnt do the 2 am thing cause the electrician in due here at 8 am today.

Tonight we will be able to see well any creatures that may come to thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation.

I will get some pictures so you can see our new lights but I must cut this post short for it is near 8 am already.

OH NO my computer wouldn’t start

Well you must know I finally got it started after numerous tries it got thru to a windows repair thingy and so I can get this blog out to you but I fear there are remaining problems that will require the services of the “Computer Mechanic”.

That’s my son Bob and he knows all about this kinda stuff. As you can see by my lil weather thing it is gonna be another warm one but we can’t complain for this is the best summer we have had in years.

Yesterday the Turkey flocks were here once more and quite a joy to watch from the kitchen window as we had our morning coffee.

The rest of the day just seemed to fly by uneventfully and then we had Italian sandwiches on the deck for supper. You know I mean dinner but for some reason it has always been supper to me and dinner was around noon.But “that’s neither here nor there” as my mother used to say.

More summer weather

Warmer in Portland by the sea but off to a warm start here inland.We are having an exceptional summer here in Maine I only hope that don’t mean we are going to have an exceptional winter.

Not much of interest in the news today the paper is mostly filled with repeat stories.

We here on goodoldbeanfarm had a late night as Alicemary and I got into a couple of books.Sometimes at night reading a book just draws you in away from the TV away from reality and time just has no meaning. So last night it was 2 am before we were able to put in the bookmarker and toddle off to bed.

Thus it was after 10 am before I got up today gotta get that 8 hours of sleep probably would have been later but Murphy woke me with a few licks of a hot tongue and her little attempts at verbalization. She has different sounds she makes, some a whine others a sort of growl when she wants something like go out, get up, feed me , or rub my belly which is followed by a roll over on her back.

Enough of that as I stumble through making a late morning blog let’s get to the little quote for today…………

Talk about Turkeys

Talk about Turkeys there was sure a flock of em here yesterday.Mothers and daughters sisters and brothers they all came a flocking to thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation.

this is one of several groups that came a calling.It was hard to get a picture of all of them together for they kept shifting and moving around.

Here is part of two groups as you can see there are two mothers and a lot of young ones.

Meanwhile three more mothers and their broods were eating grass off to the side

When they had finished eating different groups broke off and went in different directions It was quite a joy to watch them and I believe they will all return to thegoodoldbeanfeedingstation for it is the best place in town for a turkey”s dinner.

Oh ya and that family reunion we were going to turned out to be a bummer for our invites never told us exactly just where it was and after we visited several Fortin homes and found no one there we came back toward home and on the way stopped and had a pleasant visit with Bob and Debby. So all in all it turned out to be a fine day for thegoodoldbeans.

A good day for a get-to-gather

Cloudy but nice and today Alicemary and I will be off to a family get to gather with the Fortin family and we will see lots of cousins and kids and have a nice time. Meanwhile here on goodoldbeanfarm things are much the same as they were yesterday.

I was up at seven and after making the coffee and doing my drugs it was onto the exercise thingy for a little morning work out. Got the cardio up and the sweat a flowing for a good start on the day.

Just a little something from the news today. What is next I wonder, why fight over a guy in prison he ain’t gonna go anywhere.

The raccoons were here again last night and the once more cleaned up all the seeds I put down for them. Pretty soon they will need the exercise thingy as I put down quite a charge of seeds.

The electrician came yesterday and he will return Wednesday to install flood lights at the feedingstation and the front of the house so our night time viewing will be much better plus it will tighten security on the perimeter.

What a nice day blue skies and bright sunshine. Looking good for the weekend this is turning out to be a great summer.

8 am out of bed and make the coffee do my drugs and out on the deck for my morning ride on the exercise thing.worked up a good sweat and got the cardio rate up,feel good about that.

Not much in the news today and that’s OK like my mother used to say “No news is good news”! Why maybe Your mother used to say that too.

Last night the Raccoons were here and cleaned out the seeds I set out for them. They are really getting quite chubby and they really are a joy to watch with their little mask on and bright black eyes glinting in the night.

Yesterday I saw a suspicious person on our road and when he saw me on the deck he headed into the woods just off Barbara's driveway. He was suspicious because he was a quarter mile in our road where no one who has no business here should be. And the fact that he headed into the woods when he saw me.

He was dressed in black and had a kaki backpack on,No I don’t think he was a Ninja but he was suspicious so it makes for a little news. We here on goodoldbeanfarm will keep an eye out for a while.

Ten minuets of torture

Not really torture it really felt satisfying to have an early morning workout on the exercise thing but it was hot and my hands were burning from the handle bar as I pumped away at 50 reps. Any way I got the ol heart a pumping and stretched out a few muscles and that's what it is all about.

We had some real heavy rain along with lightning and thunder last night. And as it cleared three raccoons were seen at the feedingstation. This morning it is evident they had enough to eat for the seeds and corn are quite depleted.And I guess that’s what that’s all about right? Our rain storm was mild compared to what other areas of Maine had as I see in the news today. There is not much else in the news today but

I don’t have any idea why people do this kind of stuff but it seems there is quite a lot of it in Maine.

Enough of the news and what I think about it how about a little quote for today……………

Happy Wednesday

Looks like it’s gonna be another hot one.And that calls for a few adjustments.As I stepped out on the deck to greet the day it was already steaming out there and although the exercise thing was ready for a work out I sure wasn’t so perhaps later in the day will be just as good.

Back inside and turn on the fan and I sit down at the table to have a cuppa coffee when I see yep a bluebird and he is eating corn from the feeder dish.I rush to get the camera and he is still there I turn on the camera and I see “Battery Exhausted”! GREAT so am I That run for the camera was all I needed for exercise this morning.

Anyway it was nice to see the bluebird and I discovered when the camera let me down there were actually two of them, one was on a feeder above the other.Would have been a nice picture.

This is where it all happened a closer look and you can see the corn dish is about cleaned out last night it was full and topped off with sunflower seeds this is evidence that the night creatures were well fed. Around 10 o’clock I looked out there to find a big fat skunk feeding on the fallen seeds on the ground and since I had just let Murphy out I rushed to call her back in averting what could have been a devastating meeting. Murphy came in and the skunk ran off so all was well.

I have an electrician coming Friday to see about installing some flood lights for the feedingstation and the front of our home. This will help to not make the mistake of letting Murphy out when there are creatures near and will give us a much better view of the feedingstation at night.

Just had to go water the plants too hot out there for Alicemary. I ran a wire from one plant to another of the morning glories I hope the will spread their vines right across from one plant to the other.

Some bird or squirrel dropped a sunflower seed in this planter and it has now overtaken the other plants in growth. Kinda cool huh? That about covers things for today so lets get to the little quote for today shall we………….

Just another sunny summer day

Or so it seems as Alicemary and I have our turn on our new exercise gadget this morning,that thing can sure get your cardio rate up. Soon we will both be nice and slender with bulging muscles, “we wish”!

Any way it is another fine day here on goodoldbeanfarm and the seeds left for the night visitors is all gone and the feedingstation is just a buzz with birds and bees. The bees come to the humming bird feeders for some sweetness and there seems to be plenty of them this year although I read in the paper earlier their numbers had decreased considerably. Last year at this time we were enjoying a road trip to the mountains I think we may repeat that soon I just love being in the mountains in the summer and we have yet to go to the ocean, Alicemary’s favorite. And a trip up north to see the moose and woodlands of Maine would be nice and we been wanting to once more travel to Canada, Boy we sure got a plateful don't we.

This morning as I was working out the sound of a small engine caught my attention and looking toward the road I saw Great grandson Cody come putting by in a go cart. Wow that kid has so many things to ride. When I was a kid I was lucky to have a bike but times are a changing.

Yesterday we were sitting at the table and were witness to a baby show put on by 4 or 5 mother turkeys and about a dozen babies, it is hard to get an exact count because the move around so much and we have some pretty dense grass beyond the feeders. That was a nice thing to see wasn’t it.

But hot or not I managed to get a little workout on that cardio glider first thing today.

It don’t take long to get up a head of steam on that thing Ill tell ya.

And the pres.is heading back to fix all the problems. And we expect some thunder storms today and tomorrow but we can use a little rain so bring it on I say.

The raccoon returned last night and had his fill of corn hope he wasn’t mad I forgot to put out some seeds for him. Probably not cause he always manages to get some from a couple feeders.

It is getting a bit darker in here as I write this.I suppose the thunder clouds will be rolling in about now for the forecast is for mid day showers.

Oh well enough of the weather how about our little quote for today………

Woody the woodchuck returns

We haven't seen him for a while as you can tell by the picture that was taken before the jungle of green growth filled in the goodoldbeanfeedingstation. But yesterday he showed up for a snack of grass and seeds as he hustled round the feeders. And last night the fat raccoon was here for a feed of sunflower seeds. I must say we get such joy from our little feedingstation.

And it is always pleasant sitting on the deck watching the tomatoes grow and soaking up some sun but not when it is as hot as the last week has been. then we must be content to peer out the window as the air conditioners keep pleasant cool breezes flowing through the house.

Oh ya another thing of interest. Yesterday I went to the dump or landfill or transfer station as they call it here in New Gloucester and while talking to the attendant I noticed an exercise thing sitting there and asked could I have it, Sure he says and he even loaded it in the jeep for me. That was nice wasn’t it?

Any way it now sits on our deck awaiting someone to climb on and get some exercise.

I tried it out yesterday but it was too hot to get a good workout but I am looking forward to putting some time in on it in my continuing effort to loose some of the extra poundage I have accumulated.

Kind of a Craft show

Today is kind of a craft show as I fulfill a request by Debby. Awhile back she made Alice Mary and I each a Lap Blanket. And as she had no photos of them she asked me to show them on my blog.

This is the one she made for me.

And this is the one she made for Alicemary.

Isn’t that nice and look each one has our initials on them.

This is how I use mine while Alicemary uses hers as a leg warmer but didn’t want her picture taken so you will have to just imagine that.

Speaking of Alicemary here is a couple of her latest crafts……..

Here we see one of the curtains she made for the kitchen windows and look at that cute lampshade she added to match also you might note the crocheted cover on the soap dispenser.

And here is the other window, nice huh?

My wife Alicemary is a very crafty person and we have just a ton of crafts she has made over the years but I won’t get into all that in this blog cause I was just trying to show you the blankets perhaps later we will have more to show you.
